Posted by Kim Weir on 13 April 2025

On Sat 12th April quite a few members of the SMRAC throws squad went over to Kingsmeadow to see what difference the winter training had made to the each of the athletes throws.

The day began with Allyah (U15G) and Eddie (U15B) competing in the shot. Allyah threw just under her PB from March but a good performance over the course of the 6 rounds. Eddie had to withdraw after a couple of rounds as he was injured and the throwing was aggravating it.

Next up was Cameron (SM), Ryan (U17M) and Michael (U17M) in Shot. Cameron threw a new PB of 9.85m, Michael matched that distance of 9.85m while Ryan was just under with 9.61m.

At the same time Robbie Campbell (U17M) was trying out the 5kg hammer for the first time and was pleased to get 34.85m.

Next up Margo (U17M) and Daisy (U15G) were in the Hammer - both girls threw big PB's - Margo achieved 38.33m and Daisy 29.25m. The Hammer Circle had offered cash prizes for the 1st U15, U17 and U20 male and female and both Margo and Daisy won their age groups.

The rest of the afternoon was taken up with Discus and Javelin. Ryan and Michael competed against each other again in Discus and both have shiny new PB's - Ryan 30.14m and Michael 27.26m

The Javelin thowing offered the chance to compete with the new style 700g javelins. Gryffin (U17M) threw a huge PB of 38.73m with Michael PB'ing not far behind with 36.54m.

The throws coaches are very pleased with the day's results and cant wait to see what the rest of the season will have to offer.
