Southern Womens League match result 1
A team of 12 SMRAC athletes gathered to compete at the first Southern Women’s League of the 2011 season on a breezy day at Sutton. Up against some of the stronger teams in the Division, the team battled through with everyone doing multiple events.
It was fabulous to have enough sprinters to put out guests in the 100m, with a dedicated sprint relay team of Mollie, Katya, Zoe and Patricia. Mollie also ran the 200m, Katya threw the Discus while Zoe placed 2nd in the B string Long Jump and Putt the Shot.
Emma had to deal with the Pole Vault being moved Indoors due to the strong wind and also high-jumped. After throwing the Hammer, Julia joined Emma in the Vault, before running the 800m and 3000m.
Only a few weeks after completing the Brighton Marathon, Sharon ran the 3000m and 1500m, while showed real versatility, by throwing the Discus and Javelin for the first time since school.
Rebecca was another multi-eventer, squeezing in the Javelin as a warm-down to the 800m and warm-up for the 400m, before the 4 x 400m relay.
Liz returned from holiday in time to place 2nd in the 1500m and run a leg of the 4 x 400m Relay.
At the end of her Easter break from University, Becky showed that she is still running well, by winning the individual 400m and running a storming first leg of the 4 x400m.
Anna had to cope with the wind in the 200m, before running a good leg in the long relay.
This saved Team Manager Kate from having to do a relay leg, after her 5 individual events which included a PB in the Shot Put.
