Sad news

It is with regret that we must announce that one of our former members, Chris Ajala, passed away last week at the age of 47. Chris, or CA as he was known to his friends, competed for the club in the 1990's, running for the Mens Southern League team over both 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay. Training with Gary Palmer and Emerick Kaitell, Chris was a very popular athlete who went on to compete for Great Britain in the bobsleigh as well as enjoying a long and rewarding athletics career. Our thoughts are with his wife and family at this difficult time.

  1. Chris was an inspirational friend and a pleasure to train and compete with. He loved sport, training and laughing, he is deeply missed. R.I.P.

  2. Chris was a fantastic role model, a massively talented athlete and above all else a terrific guy. He always had time for others and always had a massive smile on his face. He will continue to be an inspiration to me and, I am sure, to all of those that knew him. R.I.P.

  3. Chris was my beloved husband and training partner. An absolutely amazing individual who touched many lives. One in a million and an inspiration; who passed doing what he loved most – playing sport.

    • Louise, I worked with Chris at PCH back in the early 90′s and would go so far as to say that we were good buddies. I returned to Ireland in 97 and I’m sure hadn’t met Chris for 3 or more years before I returned. I was awake at 4am last night and suddenly thought about Chris Ajala. What was that all about. Anyway, of course I googled Chris when I got to work this morning and discovered that awful news. What a shock. He was a nice guy to work with, very industrious and committed. Had he been ill? I’m sorry for your loss. Fintan Mac Coitir

  4. It is with great sadness that I bumped into an old friend today who informed me of chris’s untimely death. He was one of the loveliest, kindest men I have ever known. Although we dipped in and out of each others lives since college days, I have always had fond memories. I’m so glad he finally got married and I send my condolences to his wife and family. God bless him xx

  5. Chris was and always will be a major part of our lives, my mother and sibling miss him beyond believe. Thank you all for your kind words, friendship and family are things Chris valued a lot. He loved sports and never let anything get in the way if is training and was taken too soon! Our love remains eternal xxxx if you wish to contact us please use deelagos@yahoo.com
